On Thursday May 1, 2018 the Greater Lowell Bar Association hosted a Continuing Legal Education seminar on Attorney Conducted Voir Dire in response to the courts’ recent enaction of guidelines regarding jury selection questioning done by lawyers rather than judges. Jury selection questioning by lawyers is standard practice throughout the state and federal courts but Massachusetts has been a long holdout to this practice.
Keren Goldenberg was invited to present to the group since she is one of the first lawyers to do Attorney Conducted Voir Dire of the jury panel in the state and was very successful in her endeavor. She spoke about what worked well and why she believes that this is a superior practice for selecting fair jurors. Prior to moving her practice to Massachusetts Keren practiced in New York where questioning by lawyers of the jury panel is routinely done.
